This letter conveys my highest recommendation for R. K. Adams Construction Company. I currently serve as a Senior Vice President for the Sterling companies in Destin, FL. One of my duties is to chair the New Construction Committee (NCC) for Kelly Plantation, an 800 acre prestigious gated community in Destin, FL. Prices of homes in this community begin at one million dollars. Our newest home, in the Waterford neighborhood, is listed at $ 14 million. Builders who wish to build here must apply to the NCC for approval to build.
I was hesitant to grant approval for Georgia builder who had no connection to our Destin subcontractors. I tried to talk the owners into selecting one of our approved builders on my list. When the owners decided to stay with R. K. Adams, I predicted a rough road ahead.
I was dead wrong. Now, nearing the end of the construction on that home, I must say that R.K. Adams has earned my respect and great admiration. Mr. Adams was able to establish rapport with the subcontractors and with me, the latter being the tougher task. He responded quickly to every requirement. Numerous change orders were well-defined and properly submitted. The work site was immaculate, despite a difficult locale at the end of a cul-de-sac on a lot between two completed homes. He oversaw subcontractor parking, preventing damage to the landscaped areas and access complaints from the neighboring owners. Last, but by no means least, Mr. Adams’
Attention to details and employment of a gifted architectural eye resulted in the most beautiful home in the neighborhood.
In my previous career, I was a 30 year Air Force colonel, serving as a commander in six assignments. It is not my nature to consider my personal recommendations lightly. R. K. The building of our home on Laurel Hill Drive was an awesome experience as was the building of our business O'Brien's Shamrock Cleaners on Maclay Blvd. Every last detail of the home from the design to the beautiful wood cabinets and floors and brick fireplace.....a perfectly built home with lots of special memories. We continue to get comments on the dry cleaners building. We are often told what a classy building we have and have often been asked who did it.
